Job summary

Teton County in Jackson, WY is hiring a lifeguard/aquatic attendant to supervise the pool area, enforce rules, and oversee the water slide safety for patrons.

Under close supervision, you will respond to incidents, assist with first aid, and support staff with daily maintenance and public service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or education in progress.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• CPR/First Aid certification within three months of hire date.
• Knowledge of aquatic area operations and safety rules.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and communicate clearly.

SUMMARY:

Under close supervision, oversees the activities of patrons in the aquatic area and performs duties to ensure that safety procedures are followed during use of the water side.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Greets incoming patrons and oversees use of the water slide facility; explains and enforces rules and safety procedures, as necessary.
• Provides assistance in the event of an accident or injury using appropriate measures to secure medical or other assistance. Assists lifeguards with cleaning and maintaining the facility as needed.
• Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or education in progress; AND three (3) months water safety experience preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

• Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within three (3) months of hire date.

Required Knowledge of:

• Aquatic area operations.
• Safety rules and regulations.
• Department policies and procedures.
• Basic first aid practices.

Required Skills in:

• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Communicating verbally and in writing.
• Providing quality customer service.
• Administering first aid and CPR.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Work is performed public pool area.
• Requires continuous sitting and physical efforts when attempting a water rescue; must meet physical requirements set in Lifeguard Certification training.
• May be exposed to bodily fluids while administering first aid; safety precautions must be followed, including use of safety equipment
