Job Summary
The Sleep Technologist has passed the examination and is licensed and/or certified as either a polysomnographer, sleep technologist or a sleep disorder specialist. The technologist performs routine patient assessments, scores sleep records, documents test results, and collects biological specimens for analysis. Under a physician's supervision, they administer sleep studies to diagnose sleep disorders.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
Administers sleep studies accurately and responsibly, ensuring timely procedures.
Follows protocols for data collection, documents observations, implements interventions, and scores sleep/wake stages and clinical events.
Analyzes patient information to meet individual needs.
Provides age-specific care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
Prepares portable monitoring equipment and downloads data.
Adheres to cleaning and disinfection procedures for equipment.
Maintains equipment condition and reports repairs as needed.
Performs additional duties as assigned.

Provides age-appropriate services across all patient groups served by the Sleep Lab.
Possesses excellent communication skills.
Can assess and interpret patient data to meet specific needs.
Works independently and as part of a team.
Knows and correctly uses sleep monitoring equipment.
Education
High School/GED and an accredited Sleep Technology program or an Associate Degree in Sleep Technology are required.
Experience
At least one year of sleep study procedure experience is preferred.
Certifications and Licensures
BLS certification required. Valid polysomnographic license or certification such as RST, RPSGT, or SDS is required.
