Job summary

The Sleep Lab Technician at Carlsbad Medical Center conducts comprehensive evaluations and treatments of sleep disorders, including polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services, and patient education. The role supports the Sleep Lab team under general supervision to ensure quality patient care and accurate data collection.

Essential duties include data collection, equipment setup, electrode application, and scoring, with patient-specific PAP and oxygen therapies as needed.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of experience in polysomnography or related sleep study.
• RPSGT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Collects, analyzes, and integrates patient data to determine testing parameters.
• Prepares, calibrates, and adjusts sleep lab equipment as necessary.
• Applies electrodes and sensors, performs calibrations, and conducts PAP mask fitting.
• Conducts tests such as MSLT, MWT, and oxygen titration with accurate data collection.
• Monitors quality of data acquisition and resolves artifacts to maintain signal integrity.
• Documents sleep stages and events for scoring and interpretation.
• Implements patient-specific therapeutic interventions, including PAP and oxygen.
• Scores sleep stages and events and generates reports for physician review.
• Provides age-specific care and education to a diverse patient population.
