Position Summary

Perform polysomnographic testing.

Position Requirements
Formal Education / Training
  1. Earned a Polysomnographic Technologist diploma or degree from a college or university.
  2. RPSGT certification or at least one year of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist experience.
  3. TN State License Polysomnographic Technologist.
  4. BLS certification.
Workplace Experience

Experience in Diagnostic Services.

Equipment and Skills Training

Proficiency with computerized polysomnographic testing equipment, CPAP, network computer systems, pulse oximetry, and oxygen titration.

Physical Environment

Sleep Center setting.

Physical Effort

Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing, and to sit/stand/walk for up to ten hours a day.

Performance Standards
  1. Prepare patients physically and psychologically for testing, providing emotional support.
  2. Perform procedures according to Williamson Health and departmental standards.
  3. Document actions and patient responses accurately.
  4. Provide discharge instructions to patients.
  5. Prepare completed tests for interpretation.
  6. Maintain exam room readiness for procedures.
  7. Maintain equipment and notify relevant personnel of repairs and supply needs.
  8. Participate in in-services and educational programs.
  9. Assist in training new personnel.
  10. Handle assigned communications or special tasks responsibly.
  11. Communicate outcomes and suggest improvements for sleep lab care delivery.
  12. Maintain position-specific qualifications.
