Position Summary

Perform polysomnographic testing.

Position Requirements
Formal Education / Training:
  • Earned a Polysomnographic Technologist diploma or degree from a college or university.
  • RPSGT certification or at least one year of Registered Polysomnographic Technologist experience.
  • TN State License Polysomnographic Technologist.
  • BLS certification.
Workplace Experience:

Diagnostic Services.

Equipment and Skills Training:

Computerized Polysomnographic Testing Equipment; CPAP; Network Computer System; Pulse Oximetry; Oxygen Titration.

Physical Environment:

Sleep Center.

Physical Effort:
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for up to ten hours a day.
Performance Standards
  1. Prepare patients physically and psychologically for testing, providing emotional support.
  2. Perform procedures according to Williamson Health and departmental standards.
  3. Document actions taken and patient responses.
  4. Provide patients with discharge instructions.
  5. Prepare completed tests for interpretation.
  6. Maintain exam rooms and prepare them for procedures.
  7. Maintain equipment and notify appropriate personnel of repairs or supply needs.
  8. Attend in-services and educational programs.
  9. Assist with orientation and training of new staff.
  10. Take responsibility for assigned communications or special projects.
  11. Communicate outcomes and opportunities for improvement within the sleep lab team.
  12. Maintain position-specific qualifications.
