Job summary

CommonSpirit Medical Group - Sleep Center is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our care team in Southeast Tennessee. You will support clinical screenings, assist procedures, educate patients, and coordinate administrative tasks to ensure a smooth patient journey.

You will greet patients, record vital signs, manage specimens and medications, and collaborate with providers using electronic health records.

Qualifications

  • CMA certification required or on hire.
  • Experience with electronic health records preferred.
  • Ability to perform screenings and vital signs per standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient safety and privacy protection.
  • Perform general patient care following standards.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs (BP, temp, pulse, resp, height, weight).
  • Draw blood samples and prepare specimens for lab analysis.
  • Administer medications and vaccines as ordered.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at CommonSpirit Medical Group - Sleep Center, you will be a vital pillar of our care team, significantly impacting patient well-being through direct support and seamless coordination.
Every day, you will actively collaborate on comprehensive screenings, assist with clinical procedures, provide essential health education, and expertly manage administrative tasks, leveraging technology to coordinate care for diverse patient populations. You will ensure patients feel at ease, patiently explaining instructions and addressing their concerns.
To be successful in this role, you will possess strong clinical knowledge, technological fluency, genuine compassion for patient well-being, and an adaptable spirit keen on continuous learning and collaborative teamwork.

  • Provide for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
  • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
  • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
  • Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Administer ordered medications and/or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and/or inhalant administration.
Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Graduate or
  • High School GED and
  • May require specialized training, such as Non-Certified Radiologic Technician.
  • Certified Medical Assistant AAMA, upon hire or
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, upon hire or
  • Certified Medical Assistant NHA, upon hire or
  • National Certified Medical Assistant NCCT, upon hire or
  • National Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP, upon hire or
  • Registered Medical Assistant AMT, upon hire or
  • Registered Medical Assistant, upon hire or
  • Cert Med Asst - MMCI, upon hire and
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, within 30 Days
Preferred
  • Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant course or Exam
  • Two (2) years Medical Assistant experience.
  • Electronic health record experience.
