Orion Steel Group LLC is seeking a General Helper for Slab Processing in Portland, OR. The role involves identifying steel slabs, performing cutting operations, and scarfing slab kerf to meet quality standards.

You will support material movement and operate equipment on a 12-hour shift schedule. Successful candidates will be safety-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and within a team.

Qualifications

• Ability to work safely in a heavy industrial environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and slab mapping.
• Basic math skills required for production data and inventory records.
• Ability to read and follow procedures and work instructions.
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Identify steel slabs and perform cutting operations according to production requirements.
• Scarff slab kerf to meet quality standards.
• Operate slab cutting machines and scarfing torches safely.
• Enter slab information into computerized systems accurately.
• Communicate with crane operators using radio, hand signals, and verbal commands.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment as needed.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow safety protocols.
