Oregon Steel Mills is seeking a Slab Processing General Helper to join our heavy industrial team. You will identify slabs, perform cutting operations, scarf slab kerf to meet quality standards, and support material movement with safe operation of equipment.

This role requires strong safety focus and the ability to work on a 12-hour shift schedule. Successful candidates will be detail-oriented, able to work independently or as part of a team, and capable of following procedures in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Safety-conscious approach to a heavy industrial environment
• Excellent attention to detail when mapping slabs and entering data
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production setting with teamwork
• Comfort operating heavy equipment and basic tools
• Flexibility to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and holidays

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate production records
• Enter slab information into computerized systems
• Process steel slabs according to production requirements
• Operate cutting torches and track burners
• Inspect slabs and remove kerf using torches
• Communicate with crane operators using radio and signals
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment
• Keep a clean, safe work area and follow procedures
• Support production needs and take on additional duties
