Job summary

Crossroads Continuum in Marlborough, MA is hiring FOUR Skills Trainers to join our Commons Adult Day Program. These full-time roles offer daytime hours, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, with a $1,000 sign-on bonus.

As a Skills Trainer, you will support adults with autism in developing daily living, communication, social, and independence skills, within a safe, supportive environment and collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to run, lift, and implement behavioral interventions when necessary.
• Background checks including CORI, fingerprinting, and references completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support to adults with autism in day program and community.
• Develop daily living, communication, social, vocational, and independence skills.
• Implement ISPs, BMGs, and BIPs.
• Encourage participation in recreational activities and community experiences.
• Collect data, document progress, and communicate observations.
• Collaborate with colleagues and leadership for consistent support.

As a Skills Trainer, you'll play an important role in helping the adults we serve develop essential life skills, build relationships, explore their interests, and actively participate in their communities.

What You'll Do

As a Skills Trainer, you'll provide hands‑on support, encouragement, and guidance to adults with autism in our day program and community settings.

Your responsibilities will include:

Support individuals in developing daily living, communication, social, vocational, and independence skills.

Implement individualized goals outlined in Individualized Support Plans (ISPs), Behavior Management Guidelines (BMGs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).

Encourage meaningful participation in recreational activities, volunteer opportunities, and community‑based experiences.

Support participants at volunteer and community worksites while promoting independence and confidence.

Model and reinforce appropriate social interactions, communication, and positive behaviors.

Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging environment while providing appropriate supervision.

Collect data, document progress, and communicate observations with the team.

Collaborate with colleagues and program leadership to provide consistent, person‑centered support.

Celebrate individual achievements, big and small, while helping participants reach their personal goals!

What We're Looking For

We're looking for dependable, compassionate, energetic individuals who enjoy working with people and want to make a meaningful difference.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to maintain a positive, patient, and professional approach in a dynamic environment.

Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including running, lifting, and implementing behavioral interventions when necessary.

Successful completion of required background checks, including CORI, fingerprinting, and reference checks.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, behavior analysis, human services, or a related field.

1–2 years of experience supporting individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or other support needs.

Previous experience in adult day services, direct support, education, or community-based programs.
