Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI seeks a welder with experience or formal training. You will weld a wide variety of materials and structural assemblies using GMAW and SMAW during submarine fabrication and installation.

The role includes ongoing training in traditional and new welding processes, reading weld symbols, using pneumatic tools, pre-heat and gouging, and following work packages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or 2 years related technical experience.
• Welding experience or formal welding training.
• Available to work all shifts.
• Able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures.
• Must pass destructive bend weld test after training.
• Own basic hand tools required.

Responsibilities

• Welding on a variety of materials using multiple weld processes.
• Welding structural assemblies during fabrication and installation of submarine construction (GMAW/SMAW).
• Participate in training on traditional and new welding processes with qualified equipment.
• Use pneumatic tools and perform gouging as needed; verify weld size with gauges.
• Read weld symbols, technique sheets, and work packages.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.
