Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in North Kingstown, RI seeks X-Ray Welders to perform skilled structural welding on submarine hull joints. The role demands welding in all positions, gouging, and ensuring high-quality work to pass UT/RT inspections.

You will work with pre-heat and gouging tools, complete weld tests, and undergo a six-month probationary period to prove proficiency in X-ray welding. Internal candidates considered first.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or 2+ years related technical experience.
• 6+ months of structural MIG welding experience or current EB structural welding qualifications (MIG pulse/spray).
• Knowledge of welding procedures and various welding equipment.
• Ability to work in horizontal, vertical, overhead and flat positions.
• Own basic hand tools and ability to lift as required.
• Available to work all shifts.

Responsibilities

• Weld in all positions and on various joint designs.
• Gouging of full penetration welds.
• Deliver high quality welds with speed and efficiency.
• Meet internal policy standards and UT/RT acceptance criteria.
• Use pneumatic tools (grinders, burrs, wire brushes).
• Pre-heat equipment and carbon/arc gouging; verify weld size with gauges.
• Complete RT welding test and six-month probationary period to demonstrate proficiency.
