Job summary

County of Volusia in DeLand, Florida, seeks a Trades Worker to join the Road and Bridge Division’s Drainage Task Team. The role covers semi-skilled tasks across several trades, including drainage installation, concrete work, and equipment operation, with supervision as needed.

Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED and two years of maintenance/repair experience. A valid Florida driver's license is required, and a Florida Class A CDL must be obtained within six months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with two years of maintenance/repair experience in plumbing, mechanical pipe installation, concrete or brick work.
• MUST possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
• MUST obtain a Florida Class A CDL within 6 months of appointment.
• A comparable amount of education, training, or experience may be substituted for the minimum requirements.
• Preferred: Class A CDL, 2+ years in concrete forming/finishing, and 2+ years in catch basins, pipe laying, sidewalks/driveways, and asphalt work.

Responsibilities

• May install and repair underground drainage piping, structures and restoration.
• May perform concrete work (sidewalks, driveways, etc.).
• May do grade shots for pipe and structure installation.
• May perform small engine repair.
• May operate equipment and vehicles (tractor, front-end loader, excavator, skid loader, dump trucks).
• May perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
• May load/unload trailer equipment and materials.
• May act as crew leader in supervisor's absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
