Job summary

General Mills in Cedar Rapids is hiring a General Production Skilled Operator – Material Handling. The job supports packaging and processing, participates in equipment startups, changeovers, and shutdowns, and works on 8-hour shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English in the workplace.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods.
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions.
• Ability to climb and work at heights with PPE as required.

Responsibilities

• Support packaging and processing operations.
• Participate in equipment startup, changeovers, and shutdowns.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and partner with Maintenance.
• Calibrate systems to meet required specifications.
• Perform quality and safety checks.
• Clean and sanitize production equipment and work areas.
• Participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Assist other plant areas as assigned.
