General Mills, Inc. is hiring for a Skilled Production Operator - Desserts at the Geneva, IL facility. Starting pay is $22.71 per hour with additional $1.00 or $2.00 per hour for 2nd and 3rd shifts.

Shifts run 8 hours with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd options; overtime may be required as needed. The Geneva plant in Kane County produces Betty Crocker desserts and other snacks. The team emphasizes safety, growth, and cross-training, with strong potential for career advancement in a food manufacturing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• English communication with coworkers and supervisors.
• Experience operating machines/equipment.
• Mechanical/technical manufacturing experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills to use digital tools.
• Ability to obtain forklift/PIV certification.
• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Stand/walk/climb/bend/push/pull/twist for extended periods.
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions.
• Work around high-speed machinery and food allergens.

Your Work Schedule and Shift Information

• 8-hour shifts
  • 1st shift: 6:45 am to 3 pm
  • 2nd shift: 2:45 pm to 11 pm
  • 3rd shift: 10:45 pm to 7 am

• Currently hiring for 2nd and/or 3rd shift
• Shift availability will be based on business needs
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and emergency events
• Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As part of our manufacturing team, you will:

• Be responsible for production packaging and processing operations, sanitation and participation in startup, changeover and shutdown of operating equipment
• Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment; partner with maintenance staff to resolve issues
• Calibrate processing and/or packaging systems to meet required specifications
• Operate and participate in startup, changeover, and shut down of operating equipment
• Performing all necessary quality checks
• Complete required documentation in a timely and accurate manner
• Be responsible for the cleaning and sanitation of work areas and/or equipment
• Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
• Assist in training new employees

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English)
• Experience machine/equipment operation
• Mechanical/technical experience in manufacturing or related field preferred
• Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferredile>
• Basic computer skills with the ability to use digital tools and systems to complete daily work tasks
• Ability to obtain and maintain forklift and/or Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV/POV) certification
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods
• Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions
• Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
• Ability to follow human and food safety, quality, and grooming standards
• Ability to wear such as protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment - PPE) such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard/bump cap, hair/beard net, gloves, and face masks (when required)
• Ability to work around high-speed machinery and food allergens
