Job summary

Northwell Health in New York is seeking a skilled plumber/steamfitter to maintain, repair, install and replace complex water, gas, steam and medical gas systems. You will thread, solder, fit and weld pipes, install fixtures and manage drainage systems on site.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, relevant trade certificates, and at least two years of experience. Flexibility for weekends/holidays in emergencies is expected, with strong knowledge of NYC codes and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required; vocational plumbing training preferred.
• G38Torch use of O-2 COMB GAS certificate required; Burning and Welding certificate required.
• Minimum two years of general experience as plumber or steamfitter.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics; NYC Code knowledge; basic computer literacy preferred.
• Certificate of Fitness (S-12/S-13/G-60/F-60/P-98) strongly preferred; experience with high pressure boilers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair, install and replace water, gas, steam, medical gas and drainage systems; thread, solder, fit and weld pipes.
• Install, connect, repair and replace pipes; assemble plumbing fixtures such as sinks, toilets, showers and water heaters.
• Maintain fire systems; check sprinklers and standpipes.
• Fit gaskets, seal joints, and make connections using welds and bolts.
• Repair autoclaves, sterilizing equipment and distilled water units.
• Paint, plaster or replace tile and floor boards when necessary; keep workspace clean.
• Perform related duties as required.
