Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking a hands-on PLC Technician to maintain and improve plant automation and control systems. You will program and debug PLC/HMI software, troubleshoot multi-discipline issues, calibrate instrumentation, and support operations with proactive maintenance.

The role emphasizes safety, collaboration with engineers and vendors, and continuous improvement, with opportunities for training and growth in a fast-paced food production environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree in Industrial Controls Technology or 3–5 years of instrumentation/automation experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of PLC programming, HMI systems, automated controls, electronics, robotics.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • PLC, HMI, or DCS certifications.
  • Instrument calibration experience.
  • HART communication experience.
  • CMMS software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Install, test, maintain, inspect, modify, and repair plant automation and control systems.
  • Program, configure, update, and debug PLC and HMI software and operating parameters.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, mechanical, and automation issues; identify root cause and corrective actions.
  • Diagnose and resolve system alarms, faults, jams, and connectivity issues.
  • Calibrate plant instrumentation including pressure, temperature, level, flow, pH, conductivity, weight, force, and speed instruments.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and maintain accurate CMMS and maintenance records.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, vendors, and OEMs to support plant operations and automation projects.
  • Recommend and implement control system improvements, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance mechanics, production supervisors, and manufacturing engineers.
  • Follow and promote all safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout, NEC, NFPA 70E, and state requirements.
  • Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics and company values.

Preferred Qualifications
  • PLC, HMI, or DCS certifications.
  • Instrument calibration experience.
  • HART communication experience.
  • CMMS software experience.
