Qualifications

• Must have ability to perform venous and skin punctures and finger sticks.
• Proficient in basic computer use and data entry.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; focus on customer service.

Responsibilities

• Identify patients using two identifiers (not room number).
• Perform venipuncture using aseptic technique.
• Label specimens at the bedside with accurate patient information.
• Time and initial all collected specimens; ensure patient safety before, during, and after collection.
• Deliver specimens to the correct lab section within expected timeframes.
• Assist with courier duties for specimen transport as needed.
• Maintain neat and clean work area and properly operate copy/fax equipment.
