Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) in Norfolk, VA seeks a skilled painter to apply coatings to buildings, counters and cabinets using brushing, rolling and spraying. Knowledge of rubbing down fine-textured finishes, marbling, mottling and graining is required.

The role involves standing, bending, climbing and lifting up to 40 pounds, with work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions. This is a full-time position with a typical 35+ hour schedule.

Qualifications

• One year of general experience with painting methods such as brushing, rolling and spraying.
• Five years of experience performing professional painting work including rubbing down fine-textured finishes, marbling, mottling and graining techniques.
• One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Paints a variety of surfaces according to directions using brushes, rollers, spray guns, trowels and other tools.
• Prepares coating materials by blending tinting and toning, and adds additives as needed to achieve required texture or finish.
• Works inside and outside; stands, bends, crouches and climbs; lifts up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
• Performs related work as assigned.
