Job summary

Northgate Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bessemer, AL is seeking a Cook to join our dietary team in a fast-paced skilled nursing and long-term care facility.

You will prepare meals from standardized recipes, manage stations, and ensure food quality and safety for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience as a cook in healthcare or long-term care preferred.
• ServeSafe certification preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to standardized recipes and production guidelines.
• Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment needed for daily service.
• Measure, weigh, mix, chop, and prepare food items.
• Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, grills, and fryers.
• Use a variety of cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming.
• Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and food quality.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and storage procedures.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils.
• Provide excellent service to residents, guests, and team members.
• Follow all facility safety and sanitation policies.
• Support the team with additional duties as needed.
