Job summary

Timberland Health and Rehabilitation Center in Butler, AL is seeking a Cook to join our dietary team in a fast-paced skilled nursing facility. You will prepare and cook meals, set up workstations, and maintain high food safety standards while delivering excellent resident service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to recipes and guidelines.
• Set up stations with ingredients and equipment for daily service.
• Measure, weigh, mix, chop ingredients as needed.
• Operate ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, grills, and fryers.
• Use baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming methods.
• Ensure portion control, presentation, and quality.
• Follow food safety, sanitation and storage procedures.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas and equipment.
• Provide excellent service to residents and staff.
• Follow facility safety policies and assist as needed.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and cook meals according to standardized recipes and production guidelines
• Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment needed for daily service
• Measure, weigh, mix, chop, and prepare food items
• Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers, grills, and fryers
• Use a variety of cooking methods including baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming
• Ensure proper portioning, presentation, and food quality
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and storage procedures
• Clean and sanitize kitchen areas, equipment, and utensils
• Provide excellent service to residents, guests, and team members
• Follow all facility safety and sanitation policies
• Support the team with additional duties as needed

What We’re Looking For

• Cook experience required, preferably in skilled nursing, healthcare, or long-term care
• ServeSafe certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and food safety standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Basic math skills for measuring and portioning
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs
