Job summary

Windsor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center of Harlingen in Harlingen, TX is seeking a Part-Time Cook to prepare and portion meals according to diet specifications and sanitary regulations.

Candidates should have a high school diploma (or equivalent); Texas Food Handler Certificate preferred, with prior skilled nursing facility experience recommended.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Texas Food Handler Certificate is preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and hygienic methods.
• Knowledge of Universal Precautions and rules that govern hazardous waste.
• Previous experience in skilled nursing facility is preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Responsibilities

• The Cook ensures that the resident meals are properly prepared and apportioned according to the resident’s diet specifications, facility procedures, and prescribed dietary and sanitary regulations.
• Prepared food items on assigned/scheduled menus.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment and utensils, work area, storage area, and serving area.
• Follow proper food handling procedures.
