Job summary

Sun Chemical is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform routine, emergency and preventive maintenance on office and plant equipment and facilities. The role requires reading blueprints and manuals, and strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, building, and vehicle repair.

The position involves working with pumps, piping, boilers, HVAC, and lift trucks, with a focus on safety, accuracy and efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED required.
• Able to read blueprints, sketches and equipment manuals.
• Knowledge of pipe fitting, electrical wiring and general mechanics.
• Experienced in maintenance—mechanical, electrical, building, and vehicle repair.
• Experience with pumps, drives, gearboxes, belts, hydraulic systems, bearings, shafts and couplings.
• Electrical: 460V 3-phase, motor controls, low voltage.
• Piping (water and steam); Boilers — condensate system; tracing, coils, traps, and pumps.
• Air compressor systems, filters, regulators, dryers, lubricators.
• HVAC knowledge; Lift trucks—electric, EE rated.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine, emergency, and preventive maintenance.
• Works on office and plant equipment, machines and building facilities.
• Assists in maintaining plant security and in safety inspections.
• Maintains work area, equipment and tools.
• Disposes of waste per company policies.
• Assists in plant Self Safety and ASI inspections.
• Assists in general plant cleaning and appearance.
• Complies with OSHA activities for PIT.
• Operates floor scrubber.
• Must perform up to 60% of procedures within department.
• Follows all safety rules and procedures.
