Job summary

The Kinetic Group is seeking a skilled Machinist to support our tool room and production operations in Anoka, MN. You will set up and operate CNC mills, lathes and grinders, inspect parts with precision tools, and help maintain tooling to blueprint specifications.

Ideal candidates have a machining tech degree or 5+ years of hands-on experience, plus knowledge of GD&T and tight tolerances. Overtime may be required; team environment emphasized.

Qualifications

• Two-year vocational schooling degree or diploma in Machining Technology OR 5+ years relevant experience without a degree/diploma.
• Experience in short run, prototype or tool room environment.
• Experience as a manual machinist.
• Multiple process welding capabilities preferred.
• Precision fabrication experience.
• Experience making fixtures.
• Knowledge of metals such as steel, iron, brass and other metals, alloys and tool steels.
• Ability to measure with micrometers, master height stand.
• Ability to work with geometric dimensioning and tight tolerances.
• Shift flexibility to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Keep abreast of latest machining technologies and pursue additional schooling as needed.
• Learn and operate all machine shop equipment.
• Inspect tooling and machine parts using precision measuring equipment.
• Select proper stock for job and lay out work using shop math; set up and operate equipment per blueprints.
• Make adjustments and changeovers to fit specific assignments.
• Produce and repair tools, gauges and machine parts per blueprints.
• Compute cost estimates and communicate to engineers.
• Work with engineers to develop tooling for production.
• Perform welding and fabrication of machine parts or tooling.
• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions in production.
• Order and maintain machine tool supplies.
• Program CNC mills, lathes and grinders, if applicable.
• Operate EDM, if applicable.
