Harnden Construction Services, LLC is hiring a Skilled Laborer to support heavy civil site projects across the Mid-Atlantic, with initial assignments at Ft. Meade, MD. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and a strong work ethic on earthwork, wet utilities, and site finishing tasks.

Ideal candidates have experience in wet utility installations, site demolition, grading, and may have Trimble GPS exposure. A background check, pre-employment physical, and drug testing are required.

Responsabilidades

• Adhere to OSHA and HK Safety policies on all work.
• Acquire tools and materials required for daily operations.
• Measure distances from grade stakes and set up forms.
• Bolt, nail, align, and block up forms as directed.
• Signal equipment operators to ensure alignment and grading accuracy.
• Level earth to exact grade specifications and finish concrete surfaces.
• Assist with paving tasks, including marking, grading, and asphalt shoveling.
• Work with pipe crews to prepare and install pipe sections and connect systems.
• Assist with general construction duties as assigned.

Overview

Harnden Construction Services, LLC. is a heavy-civil site contractor that performs earthwork and wet utility construction projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Our mission is to build strong communities through project execution, construction employment, and community service. Our staff has extensive knowledge in site construction, large earthwork, complex underground utility installation, landfill construction and structural excavation.

We are looking to add valued members to our operations team due to our growing work volume. As a Skilled Laborer on our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute on a wide range of construction projects in the public and private sectors, ranging in magnitude from >$1M to $20M. You will be joining our field team in performance of our construction contracts throughout Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

The ideal candidates would have prior industry-related experience with a dedicated work ethic and be a team-oriented individual. Specific experience with wet utility installations, site demolition, and grading is required. Prior experience with Trimble GPS is a plus. This position will be initially assigned to our ongoing projects at Ft. Meade, MD . Successful passing of a background check, pre-employment physical and drug testing will be required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Acquires tools needed for daily operations
• Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line
• Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications
• Mixes concrete
• Smoothes and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces
• Paving Duties:
  • Assists with pre-run markings
  • Uses a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compacts
  • Operates vibratory plate as needed
  • Shovels asphalt as required
  • Direct traffic around work area as required
• Pipe Duties:
  • Gets tools needed for daily operations
  • Gets job set up for daily function such as setting up a pipe laser
  • Operates a Wacker and jumping jack to perform backfilling duties
  • Uses cut saws to make pipe proper length
  • Preps pipe for connection before pipe gets lowered
  • Shoots grades and checks grades using laser or conventional methods
  • Performs connection of pipe work
  • Responsible for checking for proper pipe slope
  • Preps structures for installation
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
