Job summary

Kent Companies is hiring a full-time concrete laborer for Traverse City, MI. The role requires 2 years of concrete construction experience, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a drug screen. OSHA 10/30 certification is preferred for equipment operation.

Qualifications

• 2 years of consistent concrete construction experience
• Leather work boots with steel or composite toe protection recommended
• Hand tools including Hammer, Hammer Loop, Holster, Measuring Tape, Speed Square, Mag and Margin Trowels
• Must have reliable transportation to the workplaces/job locations
• Ability to pass drug screening
• Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
• Preferred OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification in equipment operations such as telehandlers and aerial lifts

Responsibilities

• Safely perform general labor tasks on concrete construction sites including power and standard hand tools
• Wear appropriate PPE including hard hat and high visibility apparel
• Utilize measurement and carpentry skills to build custom formwork
• Move materials, prepare for concrete placement, install shoring, maintain clean job sites
• Set and place forms, build and dismantle formwork, erect shoring and place concrete
• Communicate with crew lead, foreman, and superintendent on safety and inquiries

Summary

Duties and Responsibilities

• Safely perform general labor tasks on concrete construction sites including power and standard hand tools
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment PPE including a hard hat high visibility apparel and additional protection as required by the task
• Utilize measurement and carpentry skills to build custom formwork
• Moving materials by hand preparing for concrete placement installation of shoring and maintaining clean well organized job sites
• Setting and placing forms building and dismantling formwork erecting and dismantling shoring and placing concrete into forms
• Utilize elevation specifications to accurately set up a laser leveling system and establish grade and grade lines
• Place and tie reinforcing steel and install embeds to specification
• Work in a variable environment both indoors and outdoors When required work during inclement weather including extreme heatcold
• Communicate effectively with your crew lead foreman and superintendent on safety ask questions and problem solve

Work Environment

Physical Demand This position works outside at job locations in a typical construction site environment should be able to lift 80 pounds and requires long periods of walking standing and working in all sorts of weather hot cold and rainy days

Position type travel and expected hours of work

This full time field position requires travel to local job locations in and around Traverse City MI Typical hours will range from 45 50 hours per week and are subject to change This role requires working nontypical days and irregular hours based on construction schedules Due to the critical nature of the role accepting phone calls even during nontypical workdays and hours is also necessary
