Job summary

Western Specialty Contractors is seeking a self-motivated Skilled Laborer for our Little Rock, AR branch. The role involves performing masonry, waterproofing, caulking, and concrete repair tasks as part of a branch production team, with emphasis on safety and craftsmanship.

Qualified candidates will demonstrate reading and math skills, comfort with heights and outdoor conditions, and reliable transportation. Training and growth opportunities are available within our ESOP-owned company.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a trade or craft preferred.
  • Ability to read drawings.
  • Ability to stand, walk for long periods and lift 50 pounds or more.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work within a defined area following standard craft practices.
  • Contribute to brick replacement, lintel replacement, mortar work, and stone repair as part of masonry tasks.
  • Assist waterproofing of below-grade and building envelopes and apply coatings.
  • Sealant removal and replacement around windows and perimeters.
  • Concrete repair including patches, epoxy/urethane injection, and sealing.
  • Possibility of weekend, night, or out-of-town work and ownership of hand tools.

Come work for America’s Master Craftsmen in Restoration and Preservation! Western Specialty Contractors is currently looking for self-motivated, top notch individuals to help serve our customers as a Skilled Laborer at our Little Rock, AR branch. If you are a self-motivated individual with great work ethic and the personality to help with customer satisfaction, then we would love to meet you!

As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for the performance of work within a particular work area and in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts. Experienced skilled laborers are all encouraged to Apply!

  • Masons and Tuckpointers– Experience in the work tasks of brick replacement, lintel replacement, mortar removal and replacement, and stone repair.
  • Waterproofers– Experience in the works tasks of below grade and building envelope waterproofing, pedestrian and vehicular coatings. Basic waterproofing including coating, expansion joints, and miscellaneous waterproofing.
  • Caulkers– Experience in the work tasks of sealant removal and replacement around windows including glass glazing, window perimeters, control joints and expansion joints.
  • Concrete Journeymen– Experience in the work tasks of concrete repair including small and large patches on horizontal and vertical concrete surfaces, epoxy and urethane injection, carbon fiber reinforcement, grout pocket patching, post tension repairs and concrete sealing.
  • Experienced and non-experienced laborer
Requirements

To be qualified for this role, experience in a trade or craft is preferred. To be considered, you:

  • Must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in high temperatures.
  • Must be able to use logical step‑by‑step procedures in working with different materials using a variety of skills.
  • Must be able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and be able to judge straight lines, spaces and proportions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction.
  • Must have the ability to read drawings
  • Identify existing and predictable hazards in work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees.
  • Must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and other objects and carry tools and equipment; and see well (either naturally or with correction).
  • Must be able to work at heights and at extreme temperatures, and wear company’s safety equipment.
  • Practical construction experience preferred.
  • Must have own "hand tools of the trade."
  • May be required to work weekends, nights, and out of town.
  • Must have reliable transportation.

Compensation for this role is determined using a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, market benchmarks, and the cost of labor in the different geographic locations where we operate. In addition to base pay, this position may also be eligible for:

US Pay Range

$18—$24 USD
