Ballard Marine Construction
Skilled Laborer

1900-356

WHY JOIN BALLARD MARINE CONSTRUCTION?

Ballard Marine Construction is not a typical contractor. We are a specialty underwater and marine construction company trusted to take on technically demanding work across dams, bridges, water and wastewater facilities, industrial sites, marine facilities, and other critical infrastructure throughout North America. Our People, Our Power, The Ball…

We are built for the hard stuff. Our teams work in challenging environments, solve difficult problems, and rely on skilled people who know how to work safely, adapt quickly, and keep the job moving.

Our culture is built on grit, accountability, teamwork, and ownership. We value people who show up ready to work, look out for the crew, take pride in what they do, and are always willing to learn more. If you want challenging, hands‑on work with a team that takes pride in doing things right, Ballard is the place to do it.

Job Summary:

The Skilled Laborer performs hands‑on construction work in support of Ballard’s marine, underwater, and heavy civil projects. This role supports craft and field operations through rigging, concrete work, material handling, equipment operation, site preparation, and other skilled construction activities required to keep work moving safely and efficiently.

Working as part of a field crew, the Skilled Laborer may support crane and rigging operations, carpentry and formwork, concrete placement, marine and barge activities, temporary works, and general project execution. This position requires strong tool knowledge, situational awareness, and the ability to work effectively around heavy equipment, changing field conditions, and multiple craft disciplines.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Grit and Resiliency - We dig deep to figure out how to make things happen no matter how impossible it seems. We never give up. We take on challenges that nobody else can; or will.
  • Comradery and Inspirational - We are a hard‑working team of likeminded individuals working toward a common goal. We regularly celebrate wins and like to have fun whether at work or at play. We come together each day looking for ways to instill life and energy into the world around us.
  • Driven and Competitive - We love competition. We love to win and love to learn when we lose. Not getting the job done is not an option. We are obsessed to do our best and we do what it takes to win.
  • Trustworthy and Respectful - We are passionate about honesty, authenticity and transparency. No lies. No drama. No politics. We value constructive conflict and ensure that even in conflict we treat others with respect.
  • Ownership and Accountability - When something goes wrong, we first “look in the mirror” before we “look out the window”. We ask “what could I have done differently?” and then we share lessons learned. Regularly challenging ourselves and those around us to be better is a way of life. “Me first” belongs here.
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • OSHA 10‑Hour Construction certification preferred

  • Experience with rigging, material handling, concrete work, carpentry, formwork, or other multi‑craft construction activities
  • Experience working around cranes, forklifts, heavy equipment, barges, vessels, or other active construction operations
  • Experience using hand and power tools and supporting field crews in fast‑paced, safety‑sensitive environments.
