Job summary

Ballard Marine Construction, LLC. is seeking personnel to support field operations at marine project locations, assisting crane and piledriving work on docks and terminals.

You will work with the Project Superintendent, Barge Foreman, Pile Driver Operator, Welders, Boat Captain, Laborers and other skilled trades to ensure projects run safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Two years of crane rigging/operations experience on land or barges.
  • Three years of welding experience.
  • Must pass 3G and 6G weld tests/certifications.

  • Support field operations at marine project locations, including crane and pile-driving tasks.

Job Summary

This position is accountable for supporting field operations at marine project locations for Ballard Marine Construction. The position is responsible for supporting crane and pile-driving operations in the construction or repair of marine terminals and dock facilities. Typically, they will work closely with the Project Superintendent, Barge Foreman, Pile Driver Operator, Welders, Boat Captain, Laborers, and other skilled or semi-skilled crafts persons.

Education
  • High school or equivalent.
  • Must hold or successfully pass 3G (Vertical) and 6G (All Direction, Overhead) weld test and certifications.
Experience
  • A minimum of two (2) years of crane rigging and/or operations experience on land and on barges or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the necessary piledriving and crane operation skills, knowledge, and abilities are required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of welding
Skills
  • Understands the basic functions and operations of various types of pile hammers - diesel, air, hydraulic, and drop hammers.
  • Able to read and understand blueprints or site plans from which the piledriving work will be done.
  • Has general knowledge of construction rigging - use of slings, cable chokers, spreader bars, multi-part load blocks, etc.
  • Able to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate.
  • Ability to read and interpret Weld symbols.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and project plans.
  • Knowledge of standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding trade.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and effective safety precautions of the welding trade.
  • Ability to respond appropriately during emergencies.
Physical Demands / Working Environment
  • Must be capable of walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting onto and off barges, boats, vessels, or dock facilities of varying heights and access parameters.
  • Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Climbing vertical ladders to heights of 40' - 50'.
  • Working in confined spaces and elevated heights.
  • Lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. as required.
  • Adapting to extreme temperature changes and site conditions.
  • Must be able to wear safety gear (PPE).
  • Working around, above or in water conditions.
Hourly Rates
  • $25-$45/per hour
