Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Low-Voltage Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with structured cabling, security systems, access control, surveillance cameras, network infrastructure, and other low-voltage systems.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, troubleshooting complex issues, and collaborating with project teams to complete installations on time and to a high standard. Experience leading small crews or mentoring junior technicians is highly valued.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, label, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage cabling and equipment.
- Install, configure, and service structured cabling, access control, CCTV/surveillance, data, and communication systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, schematics, and project specifications.
- Perform cable pulls, terminations, testing, labeling, and system verification.
- Use appropriate testing and certification tools to verify cable and system performance.
- Diagnose and resolve installation, connectivity, and equipment issues.
- Work on commercial construction and retrofit projects in a variety of environments.
- Maintain accurate documentation of installations, testing, and completed work.
- Ensure installations meet project specifications, industry standards, and quality requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and job-site safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Communicate effectively with project managers, customers, general contractors, and other trades.
- Work independently and as part of a team to meet project schedules and deadlines.
- When needed, assist with training, mentoring, and directing junior technicians.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional low-voltage installation experience.
- Hands-on experience with structured cabling and low-voltage systems.
- Experience with commercial construction and retrofit projects.
- Working knowledge of access control, CCTV/surveillance, data, and communication systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and project documentation.
- Ability to properly use cable testers, certification equipment, and other diagnostic tools.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
- Ability to work safely on ladders and in above-ceiling areas as required.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team.
- Dependable, professional, and committed to quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading small installation crews.
- Experience training or mentoring junior technicians.
- Experience coordinating daily tasks and job-site activities.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for low-voltage installations.
- Relevant low-voltage, security, networking, or manufacturer certifications.
Physical & Job Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to climb ladders and work above ceilings.
- Ability to pull and route cable through ceilings, walls, pathways, and other challenging areas.
- Ability to lift and carry tools, cable, and equipment as required.
- Ability to work in active commercial construction and retrofit environments.
