Job summary

Barnhill Contracting Company in Jacksonville, FL is seeking reliable general laborers for asphalt paving lay-down or grading crews. You will perform unskilled tasks such as shoveling asphalt, stone, or dirt and serve as a designated spotter when required.

Training provided; expect long hours including weekends and some nights; may lift up to 100 pounds and work in hot or cold conditions. Valid NC driver's license noted in qualifications.

Perform general labor duties including a designated spotter for trucks and equipment on an asphalt paving lay‑down crew or grading crew.

Responsibilities

• Perform various unskilled tasks associated with asphalt paving and/or grading operations, including shoveling asphalt, stone or dirt.
• Use tools such as shovel, rake, lute, broom, pick, hammer, saw, pneumatic hammer, drill, tamp, and concrete saw.
• Operate a farm‑type tractor with power broom attachment if required.
• Serve as a designated spotter; training will be provided.

Essential Job Functions

• Stand, walk, stretch, bend, lift, pull, twist, throw, reach, and squat regularly.
• Lift 25+ pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Walk and stand for 12–15 hour days.
• Work in extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Commute to and from work; if required to drive a company vehicle, meet company driver qualification standards.
