Job summary

Reinicke Athens Inc. (RAI) in Athens, GA is seeking an experienced Fitter/Welder to join our miscellaneous steel fabrication team.

You will lay out, fit, assemble, and weld metal components for stairs, handrails, platforms, and other miscellaneous steel products while reading fabrication drawings and maintaining safety and productivity standards. The ideal candidate has strong blueprint-reading skills, precise measurement, and a proven weld quality track record in a fast-paced shop environment.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of fitting and welding experience preferred.
• Ability to successfully pass an AWS welding test required.
• Experience with MIG, TIG, and flux-core welding processes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
• Proficiency in measuring, layout, fitting, and assembling metal components.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
• Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced fabrication shop.

Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable safety regulations.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication details to determine dimensions, layouts, and component placement.
• Measure, mark, cut, fit, and assemble metal components using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Use measuring tapes, squares, angle finders, and other layout tools to ensure accurate alignment and proper fit.
• Tack weld and complete welds using appropriate welding processes.
• Verify dimensions, alignment, fit-up, and weld quality to ensure finished assemblies meet specifications and quality standards.
• Identify fabrication or fit-up issues and use sound judgment to resolve problems.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and properly use and care for tools and equipment.
