Job summary

Prince in Fort Lauderdale is hiring a Heavy Equipment Operator to run bulldozers, loaders, graders, and related machinery for excavation, site prep, and surface work. You will follow safety regulations, coordinate with crew, and perform routine equipment maintenance.

This physically demanding role requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Prior experience with earthmoving equipment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must understand work directions and communicate with foremen, supervisor and fellow employees.
• Must be able to work eight to ten hours per day, outdoors in all types of weather.
• Job requires standing, kneeling, lifting up to sixty pounds, pulling, squatting and walking.
• Maintains constant awareness of the jobsite’s concurrent activities and equipment.
• Willingness and ability to perform manual work.

Responsibilities

• Learn and follow safety regulations.
• Take actions to avoid hazards or obstructions.
• Adjust handwheels and depress pedals to control attachments.
• Operate engines and equipment such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, or backhoes.
• Locate underground services prior to beginning work.
• Monitor operations to ensure health and safety standards are met.
• Align machine depth gauge makers with stakes and guidelines.
• Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials.
• Coordinate machine actions with crew signals.
• Operate tractors or bulldozers to clear land or build roadways.
• Repair and maintain equipment as needed.
• Check fuel supplies at sites.
• Connect hydraulic hoses and power takeoffs.
• Signal operators to guide movement of tractors.
• Push other equipment when needed.
• Keep records of material or equipment usage.
