Job summary

CARSTAR Garner is seeking an experienced metal technician to repair damaged vehicles to pre-accident condition in line with industry standards and factory specifications. You will follow APS guidelines, review repair orders, and collaborate with the Estimators and Production Manager to keep vehicles on schedule.

The role requires 2-5 years of auto body collision repair, required I-CAR or ASE training, a HS diploma, and own tools.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of auto body collision repair experience.
• High School diploma or GED; collision tech graduate preferred.
• I-CAR certification or ASE training required.
• I-CAR welding and ASE Structural (B4) certification preferred.
• Experience using frame and measuring equipment.
• History of working independently and in a team.
• Highly organized, able to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
• Must provide own tools (in working order).

Responsibilities

• Repair damaged vehicles using technical information sheets following APS (Advanced Process Solutions) and repair orders.
• Make repair or replace decisions concerning safety, costs and cycle time.
• Remove upholstery, accessories and related parts to access areas.
• Perform structural or replacement repairs, airbag replacement and some mechanical work.
• Perform sheet metal welding and metal finishing.
• File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces with power and hand tools.
• Coordinate with Production Manager and Estimators on repair status.
• Meet CARSTAR’s efficiency, cycle time and return targets.
• Follow safety procedures and hazardous waste disposal requirements.
• Keep work area organized and tools/materials carts tidy.
• Attend daily release meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
