Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of a carpentry apprenticeship.
• Minimum 5 years experience in the construction industry.
• Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings and sketches; proficient with measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Carpenters perform structural repairs and paint interior and exterior surfaces of residential or commercial buildings using various materials.
• Includes framing, stripping old paint, surface prep, filler application, sanding, and finishing.
• Take measurements and calculate material quantities needed for projects.
• Build window frames, doors, staircases, and frame buildings from raw materials or pre-constructed items.
• Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves, and install as designated.
• Inspect areas and conduct repairs or maintenance.
• Build scaffolding and other construction structures.
