Qualifications

• Completion of an apprenticeship program or 4 - 6 years of carpentry experience is required.

• Ability to read blueprints and drawings.
• Knowledge of local building codes.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to material requirements.
• Prepare layout using rule, framing square, and calipers.
• Marks cutting lines on materials to prescribed measurements using saws, chisels, and planes.
• Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Verifies trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
• Erects framework for structures and lays sub-flooring.
• Builds stairs and lays out partitions and cabinetry.
• Applies paneling to ceilings and walls and finish hardware.
• Installs door and window frames, weather stripping, trim, and hardware.
• Erects scaffolding and ladders for access.
• Fits and nails sheathing on outer walls and roofs.
• Installs door and window bucks and braces them.
