Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to understand directions and read blueprints.
• Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately.
• Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally more.
• Must be able to use arms and hands to reach for, handle, and manipulate objects.
• Must be able to safely work with sharp tools or power equipment.
• Must be able stand or walk for long periods.
• Must be able to read and understand measuring tools and levels.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to material requirements.
• Prepare layout using rule, framing square, and calipers.
• Mark cutting and assembly lines on materials to prescribed measurements.
• Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
• Verify trueness of structure with plumb bob and carpenter's level.
• Erect framework for structures and lay sub-flooring.
• Build stairs and lay out partitions and cabinetwork.
• Apply paneling to ceilings and walls with appropriate materials.
• Responsible for production and quality of millwork, trim, drywall, and acoustic ceilings.
• Install door/window bucks and finish hardware as needed.
• Erect scaffolding and ladders for above-ground work.
• Manage small special projects.
