Job summary

The University of Utah invites applications for a Custodian (Janitor) to perform routine cleaning and sanitizing duties in university facilities. The role requires dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, stocking supplies, and reporting repairs.

Work is based on a 40-hour week with a day shift; some weekend coverage during summer. This is a skilled level position within the Support track, with potential to advance.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience.
• Senior-level support role; completes assignments with little supervision.
• Equivalency: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience.
• Janitor, III: Requires 3+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing duties. Duties may include dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming.
• Ensure equipment is cleaned and stored after use.
• Replenish products and supplies in assigned area.
• Alert appropriate personnel concerning repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Notify supervisor of need to order cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Remove and dispose of debris or trash.
• May perform basic maintenance and outside grounds work as required.
• Senior-level support role. Completes assignments with little supervision.
