Job summary

The University of Utah is seeking a full-time Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at Sunnyside Apartments on campus in Salt Lake City, UT. The role includes daily cleaning, disinfection, trash removal, floor care, and move-in/out support. Shift is day, 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, with on-call responsibilities.

Minimum qualifications include 3+ years of related custodial experience and a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be fluent in English and able to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Fluent English, good communication in writing and speaking.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
• Experience in custodial or janitorial work preferred.
• Clean and disinfect large areas, restrooms, and common spaces.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors.
• Clean restrooms and restock supplies.
• Empty trash and recycling containers.
• Clean windows, doors, and entryways.
• Dust furniture, vents, and fixtures.
• Maintain laundry rooms and community spaces.
• Clean offices and break rooms.
• Report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Assist with move-in/move-out cleaning.
• Follow safety procedures and chemical handling guidelines.
• Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums and floor machines.
