Job summary

Aurora Flight Sciences, a Boeing Company, is seeking a SkillBridge Manufacturing Technician Intern to expose you to multiple technician roles across the composite manufacturing process. Interns will rotate through lay-up, trim, paint, and assembly cells while learning production and material control workflows.

You will work alongside technicians, engineers, and production control, gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment with proper PPE.

Qualifications

  • Must be an active-duty service member authorized to participate in a DoD SkillBridge program.
  • Able to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
  • Able to lift and transport objects up to 35 pounds and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in classroom learning and hands-on training while rotating through composite lay-up, trim, paint, and assembly work cells.
  • Learn processes and workflow procedures of composite manufacturing operations while working alongside technicians, engineers, and production control.
  • Review and understand work instructions and various tools used in manufacturing.
  • Learn production and material control processes and assist with issuance of material and shipping/receiving tasks.

Position Overview

At Aurora Flight Sciences, we design, build, and fly advanced aircraft and enabling technologies from concept to reality. We are searching for a talented and self-motivated SkillBridge Manufacturing Technician Intern to help us create the future of flight. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

Responsibilities

The SkillBridge Manufacturing Technician program will introduce interns to multiple technician roles and operations throughout the composite manufacturing process. These responsibilities will include time working in the composite lay‑up cleanroom, assembly cells, paint areas, and trim areas. This position provides the intern with an in‑depth visualization and understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and procedures, while assisting applicable technicians with their daily duties.

  • - Participate in classroom learning and hands‑on training while rotating through composite lay‑up, trim, paint, and assembly work cells.
  • - Learn processes and workflow procedures of composite manufacturing operations while working alongside technicians, engineers, and production control.
  • - Review and understand work instructions and various tools, including hand tools, mold tools, milling fixtures, drills, rivet guns, and mixing tools.
  • - Learn the production and material control processes and workflow, assist with issuance of material, and shipping and receiving tasks.

  • - Must be an active-duty service member authorized to participate in a DoD SkillBridge program.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and wear proper PPE.
  • Lift and transport objects up to 35 pounds; consistently stand, stoop, crawl, bend, crouch, climb, and kneel.
  • Work onsite in Bridgeport, WV or Columbus, MS.
