Responsibilities

  • Investigates root causes and collaborates with engineering and vendors to implement corrective actions.
  • Tests and troubleshoots machines and equipment using PLC/CNC controls.

Job Description: Airbus Aerosystems Kinston is looking for an Equipment Maintenance Technician - Tooling to join our Production department based in Kinston, NC.

Airbus is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner (per DoDI 1322.29). This 180-day program allows transitioning service members to leverage their military technical expertise in a high-precision aerospace environment.

SkillBridge Eligibility:
  • Active-duty service member within 180 days of separation.
  • Written Commander (O-4 or above) authorization.
  • Must have current work authorization for U.S. positions.

Meet the Team: The Airbus Aerosystems Kinston facility sits at the forefront of aerospace manufacturing, specializing in the production of large, advanced composite aerostructures. Our team builds critical components for the state-of-the-art Airbus A350 XWB, including the composite center fuselage and wing spar.

Your Challenges:
  • Dismantles, moves, assembles, installs, and repairs industrial machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, or verbal instructions.
  • Dismantles equipment and machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools.
  • Moves machinery and equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
  • Assembles and installs equipment such as conveyors and tram rails using hand and power tools.
  • Constructs foundations; aligns machines; performs scheduled inspection and maintenance.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools and fabrication machinery to rework or make new parts.
  • Perform root/cause analysis in support of reliability processes, and collaborate with vendors, engineering, team leader, customer, other crafts and management to solve equipment problems and develop corrective action.
  • Rework and maintain tools of all types and materials.
  • Perform routine minor machine maintenance as part of their daily work duties (e.g., replacing machine filters, changing standard light bulbs on machines and equipment, maintaining lubrication/coolant levels, etc. as related to basic Total Preventative Maintenance duties).
  • Repairing and building of lay-up tools.
  • Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  • Uses hand and power tools.
  • Tests, inspects, troubleshooting, and repairs machines and equipment.
  • Uses PLC, CNC along with blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications.
Your Boarding Pass:
  • Min 5 years of professional experience in Production environment.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Team working mindset.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Workkeys Assessment completion OR High School Diploma/GED.
  • Move and place in the correct position heavy equipment, real property and installed property in accordance with established methods.
  • Accomplish all necessary rigging.
Physical Requirements:
  • Onsite: 100% - Daily Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
  • Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Several times a day.
  • Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
  • Daily Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Several times a month.
  • Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Daily Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
  • Daily Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
  • Daily Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Several times daily.
  • Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
  • Daily Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
  • Daily Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
  • Infrequently a cop of times a year Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
  • Daily Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site. Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
  • Citizenship: Eligible for employment in the US without current or future need for visa sponsorship.
