Job summary

0909 SP - Orbital Space Systems is seeking a Cable & Wire Harness Technician (Level 1/2) for first shift operations in Gilbert, AZ. Job description

Position Overview

Cable & Wire Harness Technician (Level 1/2) – First Shift, Tactical Space Systems Division, Gilbert, AZ. Responsible for fabrication and assembly of space‑flight cable and harness assemblies from drawings, schematics, wire lists, or engineering sketches in accordance with government specifications and workmanship standards.

Responsibilities
  • Fabricate and assemble cable and harness assemblies for space flight.
  • Follow drawings, schematics, wire lists, or engineering sketches to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
  • Operate soldering iron, tweezers, heat gun, and other common hand tools.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment in an ESD and FOD awareness area.
  • Adhere to lab coat and latex glove attire requirements.
  • Work independently and collaboratively with Manufacturing Engineers, Technical Writers, QA representatives, and Production Planners.
  • Use Microsoft Office products for process documentation.
  • Operate within 40‑hour work schedule; meet daily performance metrics.
  • Support manufacturing initiatives, including 5S, tool control, and ESD/FOD prevention.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution as needed.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Tech 1: 0 years of additional education and/or related experience in soldering, cable and harness; Tech 2: 2 years of related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DoD security clearance.
  • Knowledge of wiring processes: crimping, splicing, wire routing, and assembly techniques per IPC standard.
  • Familiarity with ESD, FOD, 5S, and tool control.
  • Strong problem‑solving, organizational, communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Self‑starter and team player; capable of working with limited supervision.
  • Preferred: Aerospace industry manufacturing experience; experience with TipQA, Costpoint, Windchill, MES, Creo.
  • Preferred certifications: NASA J‑STD and/or IPC 620 with Space addends.
Requirements
  • No heavy lifting required; standing and sitting with some reaching.
  • Must wear lab coat and latex gloves at all times.
