Job summary

Winter4Kids is seeking a Ski Patroller to help create a safe, positive experience for youth on the mountain. You will monitor terrain, respond to incidents, and work with the Mountain Operations team to ensure safe skiing and snowboarding for participants.

The role includes providing Emergency Medical Care, conducting trail inspections, marking hazards, and coordinating patient transfers with local EMS when needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Intermediate skiing ability or higher.
  • Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Willing to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and variable schedules.
  • Able to work outdoors in winter weather conditions.
  • Able to complete Winter4Kids training.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor assigned terrain and facilities to promote a safe environment for participants, staff, and guests.
  • Conduct daily trail inspections and identify hazards.
  • Mark hazards using signs, bamboo, fencing, or netting.
  • Monitor changing trail and weather conditions throughout the day.
  • Perform lift safety observations and report concerns.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and incidents.
  • Assess injuries using established emergency care protocols.
  • Provide Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) within certification scope.
  • Safely transport injured participants using appropriate equipment.
  • Coordinate patient transfers with local EMS when needed.
  • Maintain accurate incident reports and documentation.

As a Ski Patroller, you play a critical role in creating a safe and supportive environment where young people can confidently challenge themselves through skiing and snowboarding. You provide emergency medical care, monitor mountain conditions, respond to incidents, and work collaboratively with the Mountain Operations team to ensure every participant has a safe and positive experience.

Essential Responsibilities
Mountain Safety
  • Monitor assigned terrain and facilities to promote a safe environment for participants, staff, and guests.
  • Conduct daily trail inspections and identify hazards.
  • Mark hazards using appropriate signage, bamboo, fencing, or netting.
  • Monitor changing trail and weather conditions throughout the day.
  • Perform lift safety observations and report operational concerns.
Emergency Medical Response
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and incidents.
  • Assess injuries and illnesses using established emergency care protocols.
  • Provide Outdoor Emergency Care within the scope of certification.
  • Safely transport injured participants using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Coordinate patient transfers to local EMS when necessary.
  • Maintain accurate incident reports and documentation.
Qualifications

Preferred
  • Current National Ski Patrol membership in good standing.
  • Current Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certification.
  • Current Outdoor Emergency Transportation (OET) certification.
  • Current CPR for Healthcare Providers certification.
  • Previous emergency medical, fire, EM T, military, or ski patrol experience.
