Job summary

Bear Valley is seeking an Assistant Ski Patrol Director to support the daily operation of the Ski Patrol department, including avalanche mitigation, emergency medical response, mountain safety, risk management, staff training, and scheduling.

You will coordinate staffing, training, and scheduling while working closely with the Ski Patrol Director and Patrol leadership to implement policies and provide field leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years related experience in ski patrol or mountain safety.
• Current California Blasters license or ability to obtain
• Experience in avalanche mitigation with explosives a plus
• Current professional level certification EMT, OEC, or WFR
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
• Proven leadership and training abilities in ski patrol

Responsibilities

• Ski at an expert level in all terrain and conditions.
• Provide risk assessment guidance to the ski patrol department.
• Coordinate ski patrol staff for avalanche mitigation and daily activities.
• Make operational decisions in the absence of the Director of Ski Patrol.
• Analyze snowpack and weather for operational needs.
• Supervise daily preparations for mountain opening/closing.
