REPORTS TO: NIBCO Ice and Water Park Manager
JOB SUMMARY
NIBCO Ice Park Skate Guards/Attendants are responsible for the safety of NIBCO patrons by preventing accidents and responding quickly to emergencies; must know and be able to perform ice skating skills; must follow and enforce NIBCO policies and rules at all times; perform routine maintenance to the facility, i.e., sweep, pick up trash, clean restrooms, etc.; must be able to verbally communicate effectively with both the public and staff. Participate in in-service trainings.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and enforce safety regulations on the ice rink. Ensure visitors follow safety guidelines, such as wearing appropriate gear and adhering to skating rules.
- Help with the skate rental process and keep an inventory of rental equipment and concession supplies.
- Regularly inspect and maintain ice skate rental equipment.
- Help with transactions for the admissions, concessions, and skate rental counters.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the planning and execution of ice park events and programs.
- Communicate with the NIBCO Manager about facility issues and concerns.
- Help maintain food and drink inventory at the concessions stand.
- Assist with regular facility cleaning.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be at least 15 years old with reliable transportation to and from work.
- Basic knowledge of ice skating and familiarity with ice rink rules and safety guidelines.
- First aid training and certification preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must possess a demonstrated level of ability and experience in areas of oral and written communication.
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately.
- Customer service experience is a plus.
- Ability to work with people and calm/deescalate tense situations when necessary.
- Must be able to effectively prioritize daily work functions.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn how to sharpen ice skates with a machine.
- PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL SKILLS
- Must have good ice skating skills. Ability to stop and assist patrons from the ice to their feet when necessary.
- Must have a positive demeanor when in contact with the public.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work environment is generally performed in indoor and outdoor settings. NIBCO Skate Guards will typically work evening hours and weekends. Occasionally, hours will also be worked during the week and on holidays for programs and rentals. The park is open from the first week in December to the last week in February, so expect frequent exposure to cold temperatures.
