Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum division seeks a results-driven FP&A Project Manager to re-engineer forecasting and reporting processes, applying Six Sigma to deliver near real-time financial statements across segments.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives, guide data-driven decisions, manage vendors, and present progress to senior leadership while advancing AI-enabled financial planning and risk mitigation within a dynamic PMO framework.

Qualifications

• Six Sigma training completed or certification in progress.
• 4+ years of project management administration or project management experience, including tracking and reporting responsibilities for a large portfolio of projects.
• 2+ years of experience tracking and planning projects, working with large data sets, and making data-driven analytical decisions.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and concisely and facilitate cross-functional meetings.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Six Sigma methodology to lead process re-engineering and redesign financial planning, forecasting, and analysis initiatives toward near real-time financial reporting.
• Drive process optimization across Optum business segments to integrate best-in-class AI solutions and world-class processes resulting in incremental business value.
• Coordinate and execute strategic operational initiatives, defining scope, resource allocation, performance metrics, and key project results across cross-functional teams.
• Investigate non-standard operational requests and complex issues, analyzing pertinent data and facts to solve problems and mitigate project risks.
• Prepare and deliver strategic presentations and progress updates to senior leadership and key business stakeholders.
• Manage vendor relationships and service providers to ensure alignment with project deliverables, scope, and timeline requirements.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, risk logs, and performance tracking metrics within the PMO framework.
• Prioritize workloads effectively while executing ad hoc strategic operational projects as assigned.

The Financial Planning and Analysis Re-engineering team at Optum is leading strategic initiatives to transform financial modeling and operational decision-making. In this role, you will assist in re-engineering and redesigning forecasting and other FP&A processes to achieve near real-time financial statements across Optum segments. You will apply Six Sigma methodologies to drive process optimization, incorporate innovative technology and AI solutions, mitigate risks, and partner with senior leadership to deliver world-class business outcomes and incremental impact.

Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification
• 2+ years of healthcare industry experience
• Experience working within a formal Project Management Office (PMO)
• Experience with financial planning and analysis (FP&A) re-engineering or financial modeling initiatives
• Experience leveraging automated tools or AI solutions to enhance operational workflows

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $91,700 - $163,700 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
