Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Senior Director of Optum Financial Planning and Analysis Re-engineering to lead a high-performing team and redesign forecasting processes across Optum. You will leverage AI to streamline FP&A operations and deliver near real-time statements, guiding strategic technology goals and governance across the organization.

Qualifications

• Six Sigma Belt certification and/or Big 4 Senior Manager experience in AI and process re-engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in accounting and finance re-engineering or advisory services within the accounting and finance domain.
• 10+ years of experience in finance, forecasting, and process re-engineering of FP&A functions.
• 5+ years of experience driving process re-engineering utilizing artificial intelligence and automation solutions.
• Demonstrated expert-level technical knowledge of emerging AI technologies and capability frameworks.
• Experience analyzing current state operations, documenting operational gaps, and delivering executive-level presentations.
• CPA preferred; healthcare industry experience advantageous.
• Strong leadership and strategic technology alignment capabilities.

As the Senior Director of Optum Financial Planning and Analysis Re-engineering, you will lead a high-performing team of Finance Six Sigma re-engineers tasked with transforming financial planning and analysis (FP&A) operations across Optum. In this high-impact role, you will direct process re-engineering initiatives aimed at redesigning forecasting processes to achieve near real-time financial statements Optum-wide. You will leverage best-in-class artificial intelligence solutions and cutting-edge technologies to streamline operations, eliminate capability gaps, and deliver significant incremental impact on income.

You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.

For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Direct a team of Finance Six Sigma re-engineers to redesign forecasting and other financial planning and analysis initiatives to achieve near real-time financial statements Optum-wide


• Drive Optum process re-engineering to ensure best-in-class AI solutions and world-class processes resulting in incremental Impact on Income (IOI)


• Lead a team of Six Sigma belts to perform process re-engineering efforts and drive implementation toward the future state vision


• Direct operational improvement projects throughout the organization to optimize business performance and elevate overall financial operations


• Strategically integrate enterprise AI technologies and automation tools into financial planning workflows to unlock new business value and operational efficiency


• Establish strategic technology goals and align team execution to accelerate adoption of modern digital tools while removing operational barriers


• Champion responsible governance and ethical standards across all AI-driven process re-engineering lifecycles

Required Qualifications:

• Six Sigma Belt certification and/or Big 4 Senior Manager experience in artificial intelligence (AI) and process re-engineering

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $159,300 - $273,200 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
