Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum division seeks a Director, Six Sigma to lead redesign of forecasting and financial planning across segments. You will drive process re-engineering, implement AI-enabled solutions, and deliver near real-time financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Six Sigma Belt certification (e.g., Black Belt or Master Black Belt) or Big 4 Senior Manager level experience in AI re-engineering space.
• 10+ years of experience in accounting and finance re-engineering and/or advisory services in the accounting and finance space.
• 5+ years of experience in finance, forecasting work, and/or re-engineering of financial processes.
• Experience in AI re-engineering and applying automation technologies to business workflows.
• Expert-level knowledge of AI capabilities, emerging technologies, and practical enterprise applications.
• Proven excellent communication skills with proven ability to document current state, identify gaps, and deliver executive-level presentations.

Responsibilities

• Re-engineer and redesign forecasting and financial planning & analysis initiatives to enable near real-time financial statements across a segment of Optum
• Drive Optum process re-engineering to ensure best-in-class AI solutions and world-class processes resulting in incremental IOI
• Lead Six Sigma projects to perform process re-engineering efforts and direct the implementation of future-state processes
• Analyze complex current-state operational processes, document process gaps, and present strategic recommendations to executive leadership
• Collaborate across finance, accounting, and business teams to align core financial workflows with modern AI and automation capabilities
• Establish metrics, governance structures, and process controls to monitor operational performance and ensure sustained project outcomes

The Optum Financial Planning and Analysis Re-engineering team is seeking a Director, Six Sigma to lead the redesign and re-engineering of forecasting and financial planning initiatives across Optum segments. In this role, you will lead Six Sigma projects to transform current-state processes into near real-time financial reporting capabilities. You will drive process re-engineering to leverage best-in-class AI solutions and world-class financial processes that deliver measurable business impact and incremental IOI.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Re-engineer and redesign forecasting and financial planning & analysis initiatives to enable near real-time financial statements across a segment of Optum
• Drive Optum process re-engineering to ensure best-in-class AI solutions and world-class processes resulting in incremental IOI
• Lead Six Sigma projects to perform process re-engineering efforts and direct the implementation of future-state processes

Required Qualifications:

• Six Sigma Belt certification (e.g., Black Belt or Master Black Belt) or Big 4 Senior Manager level experience in the AI re-engineering space
• 10+ years of experience in accounting and finance re-engineering and/or advisory services in the accounting and finance space
• 5+ years of experience in finance, forecasting work, and/or re-engineering of financial processes
• Experience in AI re-engineering and applying automation technologies to business workflows
• Expert-level knowledge of AI capabilities, emerging technologies, and practical enterprise applications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
• 2+ years of healthcare industry experience
• Track record of driving large-scale enterprise transformation projects with quantifiable return on investment

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $134,600 - $230,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
