Position: Sitter Location: SLH - MH Main Hours: Per Diem Job Profile Summary

• 1. Positions self in patient room at bedside to maintain constant visual observation of the patient. Never leaves the patient alone or out of sight unless specifically instructed by the nurse.
• 2. Must possess good interpersonal skills, patience and the ability to deal with confused, sometimes uncooperative patients, and/or be with patients experiencing depression and/or suicide ideations. Communicates in a professional manner and demonstrates respect for patient, families/significant other and other health care members.
• 3. Obtains verbal report from the patient’s nurse to include information regarding the patient’s identified care needs, diagnosis, visual, auditory, or language barriers, as well as any special consideration (NPO, bed alarms, etc.). Obtains instruction from nurse regarding ambulation limitations and course of action for redirection of patient if needed.
• 4. Observant of the patient’s activity and behavior and reports any concerns or changes with the patient directly to the licensed nursing staff to achieve positive patient outcomes.
• 5. Maintains a safe and clean environment.
• 6. Accurately and legibly records data collected.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Effective October 15, 2024, all new hires must have high school diploma or equivalent required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee’s physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.

PAY RANGE: $16.00 - $16.00 The posted pay range is a good faith representation of potential base pay for this position. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates could vary based on position details and FTE. Pay is determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, locations, and contracts.
