Job description

Position Summary

Part‑time, seasonal role as a Kidslink Site Supervisor at YWCA Hartford. The position runs from August 18 through mid‑June 2024 and may include additional summer hours.

Compensation: $24 per hour.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:45 am–8:30 am and 2:30 pm–6:00 pm. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a safe, supportive, and healthy environment for all children enrolled in the Kidslink program.
  • Supervise a team of Assistant Teachers, maintaining a positive work environment that reflects YWCA Hartford’s mission.
  • Lead the daily schedule, including attendance, snack service, transitions to other activities, and family communication.
  • Monitor children at all times, focusing on behavior and reinforcing compliance with YWCA Hartford Kidslink and Early Learning Center (ELC) standards.
  • Plan and implement activities designed to meet the developmental needs of a large group of children.
  • Maintain an orderly, safe, healthy, and inviting environment in accordance with licensing regulations and YWCA health and safety standards.
  • Follow state and YWCA protocols for reporting suspected child abuse or neglect, documenting and notifying the Office of Early Childhood (OEC) and Department of Children and Families (DCF) when necessary.
  • Implement and monitor consistent application of appropriate behavior and discipline policies.
  • Administer First Aid/CPR and medication per OEC and YWCA policies.
  • Establish a predictable daily schedule with adequate transitions.
  • Order equipment and supplies within YWCA financial guidelines.
  • Monitor outside play space for safety, cleanliness, and maintenance.
  • Report any work‑related injuries to Supervisor and HR immediately.
  • Ensure accurate and up‑to‑date child and staff files.
  • Support classroom behavior management, provide positive guidance and redirection, and implement individual Support Plans.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and activities that balance active/quiet, teacher‑led/child‑led, in line with YWCA mission.
  • Set short and long‑term goals for program quality with the staff team.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and oversight of children during activities.
  • Ensure snack delivery, health, and sanitation standards are met.
  • Establish staff schedules and contingency plans to meet state‑mandated staff‑to‑child ratios.
  • Manage scheduling, personnel actions, coaching, mentoring, hiring actions, and payroll preparation.
  • Ensure staff complete all required training (e.g., Sanctuary Training, CPR).
  • Collaborate with supervisor to address corrective actions related to OEC inspections.
  • Attend monthly Site Supervisor and staff meetings, and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Attend Sanctuary Training and other professional development training, staying current with childcare and early childhood education practices.
  • Model professional decorum and attire in line with program mission.
  • Foster cross‑program and site collaboration, flexibility, and cooperation.
  • Maintain student and family confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum 12 credits in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or higher, or a degree in ECE or related field.
  • Certified as a Head Teacher through the State of Connecticut (CTCharts‑A‑Course).
  • Demonstrated ability to design age‑appropriate exhibits and activities.
  • Basic knowledge of child development principles.
  • 21 years or older.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within two months of employment.
