Job summary

Sioux Falls Family YMCA is seeking a Site Lead at Hartford Elementary School to help create a fun, structured, and enriching experience for students. This role supports the Site Coordinator and leads activities while maintaining a safe, positive environment.

You will collaborate with staff and families, supervise daily activities, and model professionalism and enthusiasm to foster inclusive, engaging programs during the school year.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
• Classroom management and behavior management experience.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate and support daily lesson plans and activities.
• Effectively manage student behaviors using positive reinforcement and classroom management strategies.
• Help implement the daily schedule, ensuring all activities run on time and transitions are smooth.
• Ensure the safety and supervision of all children at all times.
• Encourage participation and foster a positive, inclusive environment where all students feel valued.
• Communicate effectively with staff, parents, and guardians as needed.
• Assist with program logistics, including setup, cleanup, and organization of materials.

POSITION SUMMARY: We are seeking a Site Lead at Hartford Elementary School to help create a fun, structured, and enriching experience for students. This individual will work alongside the Site Coordinator and other Site Leads, providing leadership and support. Additionally, the Site Lead will assist in maintaining a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all children.

Qualifications

Experience working with children in an educational, camp, or childcare setting for at least 1 year.

Classroom management and behavior management experience.

• Ability to effectively supervise children during daily activities.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Schedule & Compensation

• 3:25 pm – 6 pm Monday-Friday
• Our programming runs from August 17th to May 21st
• Starting at $14.50 for qualified candidates
• Part‑time school year work
